Scores of passengers who were planning to fly by Spice Jet were left stranded at the Delhi Airport earlier this morning after their flights were cancelled at the eleventh hour.
The flights have been cancelled after oil firms refused to supply jet fuel to the budget carrier.
"We understand the problems passengers are facing. The government is taking a decision in wider interest of the passengers," said Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma.
Earlier on Tuesday, SpiceJet passengers were left stranded in Mumbai for the same reason.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has said that it would provide help the airline overcome the crisis to prevent it from shutting down operations.
The airline has been asked to give commitment of increasing sufficient appropriate capital within a short period.
