Jamaican sprinter usain Bolt ramped up his preparation for this year's Rio Olympics by winning the 100 meters race at the Czech Golden Spike meet in Ostrava last evening.

The six-time Olympic gold medallist, who owns the 100m world record at 9.58 and the world 200m record of 19.19, finished his second race of the season in 9.98 seconds, Sport24 reported.

Bolt had earlier finished his first race of the season at the Cayman Invitational Meet in a modest 10.05 seconds.

Bolt had taken a long break before Cayman meet, having not featured in any race since the Beijing World Championships last August when he claimed victory in both 100 meters and 200 meters races.

Despite enduring an injury-disrupted season last year, Bolt had claimed all three sprint titles at the World Athletics Championships.

He will now aim to defend his 100m, 200m and 4x100m titles from 2008 and 2012 in Rio Games, starting from August 5.
