Fans of football star Gareth Bale's former club Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly set up a Change.org petition demanding that Spurs end their 'strategic partnership' with Real Madrid, which Bale joined in a world-record deal.

According to the Daily Star, Spurs and Madrid signed the agreement last year after midfielder Spurs sold Luka Modric to Madrid.

The petition, signed by 3,000 fans till now, is addressed to the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust and states that the 'devoted and loyal fans of Tottenham' are petitioning to end the 'strategic partnership' with Madrid as the Spanish club has treated Spurs and their players without respect despite signing the agreement.

According to the petition, the transfer of Mezut Ozil to Spurs' top rivals Arsenal in order to recoup money spent on Bale is the 'ultimate duplicitous action', for which they deserve a fair and mutual exchange between clubs rather than being treated as a feeder club.

Bale competed his 85 million-pound transfer to the Spanish giants this week, making him the most expensive footballer in the world till date, the report added.
