The Sri Lanka defence ministry has the island-nation's navy to probe the appointment of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa's second son, Navy Lieutenant Yoshitha Rajapaksa.
A letter has been sent to this effect the navy commander, as also to probe his conduct, reports the Colombo Page web site.
Navy Spokesperson Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya was quoted, as saying that the letter has been received from the Defense Secretary to conduct the probe.
The spokesperson said Yoshitha Rajapaksa's resignation letter has not been accepted and he is currently assigned to the Sri Lanka Navy headquarters.
