Excise authorities in Sri Lanka have reportedly seized nearly 60,000 bottles of illegal liquor.
The illegal liquor stock was being transported in four trucks without a license over the weekend, the Lanka Page web site reports.
The Organized Crime and Anti Vice Division in a special operation conducted on Baseline road, Orugodawattha junction and Samantha junction near the Lunawa temple seized the massive stock of liquor.
Eight suspects, who were transporting the liquor manufactured by Wayamba Distilleries, have been arrested.
Three of the suspects are residents of the Dematagoda area.
The excise officials have taken custody of the liquor stock, the police said.
