Top-seed Kidambi Srikanth suffered a major blow as he bowed out of the ongoing Badminton Asia Championships after once again slumping to defeat at the hands of Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei in the quarter-finals here on Friday.

The Indian shuttler, who bagged a silver medal in the recently-concluded 21st edition of the Commonwealth Games, suffered a 12-21, 15-21 defeat against her Malaysian opponent Wei in their last-eight clash of the men's singles event that lasted a minute more than half an hour.

Earlier this month, Srikanth conceded defeat against Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei in the finals of the men's singles event at the Commonwealth Games.

While Srikanth comfortably had sealed the first game 21-19, the Malaysian shuttler bounced back in the next two games, registering a 21-19, 14-21, 14-21 victory over his Indian opponent to clinch gold.

In another quarter-final clash of the men's singles event, ace Indian shuttler H.S Prannoy will lock horns with second-seed Son Wan Ho of Korea for a place in last-four.
