To spread the message of Swachch Bharat Abhiyan and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel guarding the India-Nepal border are participating in a bicycle rally from the 14, 000-feet high Om Parvat to national capital New Delhi.

The rally, which started on October 12, was flagged-off by Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and has covered all the lower areas of Om Parvat, that is the Nabhi Dhang camp.

The 15-day rally was kicked off from Nabidang, a small village on Indo-China border, and has been organised with the aim of spreading awareness about the environment.

SSB Inspector General Shyam Singh said, "The basic motive is to create awareness among people about 'Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat'. If we promote cleaning and be healthy, then our country will also remain healthy."

During the rally, the participants will cover a total distance of 1,007 kilometers. The participants will cover approximately 100 to 125 kilometers daily.

Women are also participating in the mountain rally conducted by SSB. Rally members are also chanting nationalist slogans en route to uplift the spirit of all participants.

"We are taking part in this rally for the first time and have never cycled this much and it feels great to be part of such a noble motive, as we get to learn a lot from it," Vanjeeta, a sub inspector with the SSB, said.

"We are covering a distance from Nabidang, which is at the China border, to New Delhi. The height of Nabidang is 14,140 feet. The place where we are standing now is at the height of 520 feet. Delhi is about 300-500 meters. As you can see, the altitude difference is large and the distance is 1,006 kilometers, we are daily covering a distance of 100 kilometers. Once we covered a distance of 134 kilometers," said Sashastra Seema Bal, commandant Ranbeer Thakur.

The expedition will conclude in Delhi this Thursday.
