Former British Wimbledon Champion Fred Perry's grandson has said that he did not get to see Andy Murray's historic Wimbledon victory because he had to see out a long-standing commitment for a close friend.
According to the Daily Express, John Perry had waited years to see who would break his granddad's record but when the big moment came, he did not see a single shot, even as the engineering geologist lived close to the All England Club.
John said that he would just have to catch up on BBC and his granddad would have been really pleased that Andy won in three sets, adding that it was a silly record about a British male not winning Wimbledon for 77 years.
