A day after Reeva Steenkamp's mother, June, said that she was satisfied with the court's verdict that handed down five years of imprisonment to Oscar Pistorius for murdering her daughter, she has admitted that "justice has not been done."

While saying that the family will have to accept the court's decision because that is the law, June added that they were disappointed with the judgment but felt that the judge had few options given the evidence, reported The Daily Star.

She said that there was a "big missing piece" in the puzzle and that their daughter's death is still shrouded in mystery. "Only Oscar knows the truth," June said.

The 67-year-old said that if the murder was a "mistake," as alleged by Pistorius, then he has made a "tremendous, unbelievable, unforgivable" mistake.

Pistorius had shot Steenkamp dead on Valentine's Day last year and had maintained that he mistook her for an intruder in his Pretoria home.

Judge Thokozile Masipa pronounced her ruling on Tuesday in Pistorius' murder trial. The high-profile seven-month trial finally concluded with Pistorius being jailed for five years for culpable homicide. After 10 months of imprisonment, he will be eligible to apply to serve the rest of his sentence under house arrest, the judge said.
