Steve McQueen-helmed highly-acclaimed Pre-Civil war drama '12 Years a Slave' was dubbed the best film at 2014's BAFTA.

Meanwhile, the Sandra Bullock and George Clooney starrer space drama 'Gravity' was chosen as the 'Outstanding British Film', the Independent reported.

The movie is based on the true story of Solomon Northup, a free black man, who was abducted and sold into slavery.

While Chiwetel Ejiofor won the best actor award for his role in the historical drama, the best actress award was bagged by Cate Blanchett for Woody Allen-helmed 'Blue Jasmine' where she stars as a fallen NYC socialite.
