Australian all-rounder Steve Smith has reportedly been following a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet since the end of Australia's tour of India in March, in a bid to further his career like bowler Peter Siddle.
Siddle, who is a vegetarian, is reportedly sticking to a staple diet of bananas and coconut water to prepare of the winter Ashes series in Australia, starting from November.
According to The Age, Smith, who has gone from Test exile to middle-order staple in the space of less than a year, has said that after following the schedule, he has lost some necessary weight, adding that the diet has also helped him regain energy.
Meanwhile, Smith had said that Twent20 cricket is only making young batsmen like himself better, not worse, only days after retired Test skipper Mark Taylor questioned the shortened versions of the game.
