South Africa pace spearhead Dale Steyn has claimed that he had no problems at being favoured second to New Zealander Trent Boult in the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Sunrisers Hyderabad's first three games.

Steyn, the world's best Test bowler, finally got his chance last weekend and returned figures of 1-27 in his team's four-run defeat to Delhi Daredevils.

The right-arm fast bowler said that Boult has just come out of a fantastic World Cup where he had 20-odd wickets.

Steyn insisted that he got no problems losing out on a place to Boult as the latter was the in-form bowler coming out of the World Cup and it would have been silly if New Zealander was the guy on the bench at the start of the IPL, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Hoping to bowl alongside Boult in the upcoming fixtures, Steyn said that it would be amazing to bowl alongside Boult especially after the kind of World Cup that the New Zealander has had, admitting that he is a player who enjoys playing with players that have got good energy about them.

Left-arm fast bowler Boult, meanwhile, scalped five wickets in three games.
