England all-rounder Ben Stokes has admitted that he needs to mature and stop taking out his temper on inanimate objects in the team's dressing room.
Stokes is nursing a broken hand for the second time after punching a locker in Barbados during the West Indies tour, which ruled him out of the World Twenty20 and he previously fractured his hand as a 15-year-old after punching a fire door in frustration.
However, the Mirror reports that Stokes believes the time has come for him to keep a lid on his anger once he leaves the pitch, adding that he should be showing his emotions only on the pitch.
Stokes further said that he is very passionate about everything he does and fails to control himself when he fails on a personal level, thereby hurting himself on more than one occasion, adding that he hoped not to cause himself an injury next time he is faced with such a situation.
Stokes might have made the odd foolish decision so far in his career, but he has impressed with his attitude to the game and in the dressing room and his return from injury, due on May 12, gives reason for optimism at a depressing time for English cricket, the report added.
