England all-rounder Ben Stokes has said that his unshakeable self-belief is the secret to his early international success following his Man of the Match performance in England's only tour victory in Perth.

Stokes is set to be a key man in England's rebuilding process after their horror tour Down Under, and he already has at least one of the qualities that made the likes of Sir Ian Botham as good as they were.

According to the Mirror, Stokes put his poor form in Brisbane behind him to claim the title in the rare and opening win of the tour in Perth with a stellar display in both innings and he said that a player needs the right amount of self-belief and confidence to find the happy medium to be constantly involved in the game as the all-rounder.

Stokes, who hit back with 70 and 4-38 at the WACA, also said that the player needs to take any given chances to influence the game, adding that he should not take a backward step as it can become dangerous for him.

Stokes further said that he needs to always push forward and get his name in the frame for the next team sheet.
