Former England captain Andrew Strauss has questioned the insight of putting Andy Flower in charge of the squad once again.
Flower, who is a former England coach, had departed after the team suffered a 5-0 Ashes wipeout in the winters. He has again been placed in charge of the second string in their current triangular series against New Zealand A and Sri Lanka A.
It means that just six months after leaving his post, Flower again has a direct influence on players who are either playing for England or will do so in the very near future, The Mirror reported.
England has six players with international experience in their squad, including Jonny Bairstow, who hit 123 in a losing cause against New Zealand on Thursday, and paceman Steven Finn, who might have played at Old Trafford but ended with disappointing figures of 1-68 from his 10 overs.
Strauss said that he was a little surprised, and added that Flower is a fine coach and the players can learn a lot from him, but he added that it's slightly strange that he is so intimately involved in the England set-up.
The former skipper said that Flower is mainly doing a leadership-mentoring sort of role at the ECB, and England will get the benefit of him working with the younger age groups.
