The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) new chairperson Colin Graves has insisted that the newly appointed England Cricket director Andrew Strauss will take a call on the next coach.

Strauss' first job after his appointment would be to find the replacement for Peter Moores, who was recently sacked after England's poor performance in the 2015 World Cup and the West Indies tour.

Graves said that it was not his decision to make and that it is Strauss who would take that call as he would build the team around him, Sport24 reported.

Speculations were rife that Graves was keen to appoint former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie as replacement for Moores.

Former England batsman, Ian Botham, said that he believed Gillespie should be the man to replace Moores, with Joe Root appointed as England's captain, replacing Alastair Cook.

England's highest Test wicket taker said that Gillespie would be the perfect fit for providing the shake which the England team has been requiring since 18 months.

Moores' former assistant Paul Farbrace, who served as an assistant to Gillespie at Yorkshire, will take charge of England's forthcoming series with New Zealand.
