As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India's 15-man squad for the World Cup, all-rounder Stuart Binny was the surprise inclusion in the list for the tournament, which will be jointly held by Australia and New Zealand from February 14.
Binny was the rookie all-rounder named in the squad which contains five batsmen, two wicketkeeper-batsmen, three all-rounders, two left-arm spinners, one medium-pacer, four seamers and one specialist spinner.
BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel revealed the squad which would be headed by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and includes Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma despite their injuries.
Patel claimed that currently Jadeja was undergoing rehabilitation programme and was doing wonderfully well. He added that BCCI's physiotherapist had revealed on January 6 that the all-rounder was doing well and they were quite hopefull that within 10 days he would be completely fit for the tournament.
Patel further said that Sharma has a temporary injury and is doing well and he has been advised by their present physio to not to play for the ongoing Test in Sydney against Australia.
India's 15-man squad for the World Cup is as follows: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayadu, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Akshar Patel, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, Stuart Binny, Umesh Yadav.
In addition, Dhawal Kulkarni and Mohit Sharma have been named in the squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series against England and Australia.
