Students participate in Kashmir Karate Championship

Students from different parts of the country participated in a karate championship, organized in Kashmir's Budgam District with an aim of promoting the sport and encouraging girls to learn the art of self-defence.

The event was organised by All India National Ashihara Karate Federation.

The head of the association, Pankaj Sainy said that the objective to encourage more and more students to take up this sport.

"Kashmir is a peaceful area. Students hailing from different states have also given a message. There is a lot of hidden talent in children of Budgam. I want to give a message to the participants of different states as well as of the valley to support this game and make it popular among students. They should especially encourage girls to take up this sport," said Sainy.

 

The week long programme commenced on May 27 and ends on June 02.

" This gives us a lot of encouragement. Recently valley's president said that who ever would perform well in the championship would be sent to Bhutan," said Himanshu, participant from Himachal Pradesh.

Championship winners would be given both medals and mementoes.

Ashihara is unique form of karate.
