Polling for the students union is taking place in two prestigious universities, the Delhi University (DU) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), on Friday.

"The NSUI has remained active throughout the year in DU working on several issues. We went to the students in a different manner this time. We got a feedback form filled by around 20,000 students," a member of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) of Delhi University told ANI here.

"In the form, we had asked about the basic problems faced by the students of Delhi University. Two major problems came out, of hostel accommodation and racial discrimination. We met students regarding the hostel issue, conducted 'Nukkad-Natak' as well. We plan to continue our work in this direction even after the elections are over," he added.

Talking of the work done by NSUI, he said, "The NSUI has taken part in almost every issue with great enthusiasm. Our members were on a five-day hunger strike during the protests against FYUP."

The polling in Delhi University began at 8.30 a.m. for the morning classes and will continue till 3 p.m. The polling for the evening classes will begin at 3 p.m. and will continue till 7 p.m.

While in JNU, the polling started at 9.30 a.m. and will end at 5.30 p.m.
