From an uncertain start to a brilliant finish, Rory McIlroy claimed his fourth major title by winning the 2014 PGA championship.
He finished at 16-under 268 and won the much coveted Wanamaker Trophy at Valhalla Golf Club on Sunday, reported Stuff.co.nz.
Overjoyed at the much-awaited victory, the British Open champion said that he had played the best golf of his life and that he had not expected a summer like this even in his wildest dreams. He also added that he had showed a lot of fortitude in the field to get the job done.
The 25-year-old champion lost the lead in the beginning but picked up pace after the turn and hit a three-under-par 68 to beat Phil Mickelson by one stroke. Mickelson on the other hand, birdied 18 to finish second with a closing 66.
