Liverpool insiders have reportedly revealed that the banned Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez wanted to leave the Premier League club and move to La Liga, even before his World Cup exit last week.
FIFA banned Suarez for four months from all footballing activity for biting Giorgio Chiellini's shoulder during Uruguay's 1-0 win over Italy.
According to the Mirror, Suarez has had direct talks with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers since his expulsion from the World Cup.
However, the club insiders revealed that Liverpool was prepared for another summer of Suarez agitating for a move to La Liga even before his World Cup exit last week.
Suarez's lengthy ban has not changed the view of Liverpool's American owners, who said that the striker would not be sold unless their 70 million pounds valuation is met.
An Anfield insider said that after what happened last summer, there was a belief at the club that Suarez would be agitating for a move once again, adding that they still have not received official notification from FIFA about how they arrived at their decision to ban the striker.
But the insider added that whether the suspension stays in place or is lifted, Suarez would not be leaving Liverpool until other clubs meet their valuation, which remains unchanged.
