Alexandr Dolgopolov, the world number 79, produced a spirited performance on Tuesday as he knocked out fifth-seed Rafael Nadal in the first round of the Aegon Championships at Queen's Club.
The Ukrainian defeated Nadal 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 in an enthralling contest that lasted two hours and 14 minutes.
Although Nadal displayed a tremendous level of resilience to win the second set, he couldn't replicate the same fighting spirit in the decider.
Dolgopolov will next meet G.Garcia Lopez of Spain in the second round of the Wimbledon tune-up event.
