Mariam Yehya Ibrahim, the Sudanese Christian woman, who was recently freed after being sentenced to death for apostasy and later arrested again for alleged visa fraud, said that she was scared of giving birth in prison.
Speaking to CNN in a phone interview, Ibrahim spoke of the ordeal of giving birth while in prison, her fears for her family and how she is facing a future full of unknowns.
Ibrahim said that her only concern while in the prison was her children and how she was going to give birth.
Sharing her plight, Ibrahim said that she gave birth with chains on her legs, adding that the women had to lift her off the table since she couldn't open her legs at the time of the delivery.
The report said that doctors fear that the circumstances under which the baby was born may have lasting consequences.
Ibrahim, who now faces fresh charges for falsifying of documents, said that though she was in a safe place, she was definitely not comfortable.
She and her husband, American Daniel Wani, were freed from custody Thursday after having been detained two days earlier upon arriving at the airport in Khartoum while trying to fly with their baby and toddler son to the United States.
She said that it was terrorizing" the way that Sudanese police officers took her and her husband, who uses a wheelchair, from the VIP departures hall as they waited to check in for their flight, the report said.
She said that the family was scared and wondering what was wrong.
Ibrahim was sentenced to death by hanging for refusing to give up her Christian faith.
An appeals court had lifted her death sentence on June 23.
The case has drawn worldwide criticism with leaders of various countries condemning the sentence that was earlier handed down to Ibrahim.
