Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday said the latest revelations by the Delhi Police in the death case of Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor, the wife of Congress leader and former union minister Shashi Tharoor, indicate that there was a conspiracy to kill her.
"In my opinion, the whole circumstance is such that there has been a conspiracy to kill her. Who are the members of this conspiracy and where was the quid pro quo and what was the reason for the murder? These are some of the things that now have gone into," he said.
Pointing out that the AIIMS preliminary report, as early as April, had held that it was an unnatural death, Swamy said: "In September, thereafter, the autopsy was completed. They said yes it is a murder because she has body wounds which can't be explained and she has injection puncture on her hand as well as the conciliation on her cheek, mouth has been forced open and there was poison inside her system."
"So, from September it was clear, but since the FIR was not registered I decided to go on it. But the Home Minister told me that he has asked for a report and he will take a personal call on it, also it will not be any more the decision of the Delhi Police alone," he added.
The BJP leader further said the Delhi Police then sent its report and recommendation, which was accepted.
