Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi today said the police will interrogate Dr Sudhir Gupta, the Head of the Department of Forensics at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) if the need arises.

He was speaking a day after Dr.Gupta's allegation that Sunanda Pushkar's autopsy report had been tampered with under political pressure from the previous UPA regime at the Centre.

Bassi told ANI, "If it's important, then we will talk to Dr.Gupta. We have been conducting this inquiry on merit and will continue to do so. I have seen through the media that Shashi Tharoor has asked for a fair inquiry."

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), however, had denied that there was any pressure on Dr. Sudhir Gupta to present a doctored post mortem report.

"These allegations are baseless. Dr. Sudhir Gupta and his team had no pressure to change postmortem report," said Dr. Amit Gupta, AIIMS Public Relations Officer.
