Sunderland became Bradford City's latest Premier League scalp as the League One side continued with their FA Cup run and reach the quarterfinals.

Sunderland's John O'Shea helped put Bradford in the lead with his own goal in the third minute of the game, as he failed to deal with a deep Filipe Morais free kick swung in from the right.

English striker Jon Stead continued his run of scoring in every round to help put Bradford into the quarterfinals, as he doubled the club's lead with a close-range finish in the 61st minute, the BBC reported.

Much of the pre-match talk centred on the condition of Bradford's pitch, which was further cut up during the warm-ups.

Bradford boss Phil Parkinson said that he was obviously delighted with the way his side played, adding that they did the right things in the right areas of the pitch. He claimed that defensively his side was outstanding.

Parkinson claimed that he was pleased when Stead put that second goal in, adding that it gave them a bit of breathing space and they saw the game out professionally.

Meanwhile, Sunderland manager Gus Poyet said that it was a proper old-style cup tie, adding that two teams committed. He said that it would be a mistake, or a deflected shot that would be the difference from the two teams, or a decision from the referee.

Poyet gave credit to Bradford, as he claimed that they know how to play these games, insisting that it is not humiliating, as it is what the cup brings into the equation.
