The Supreme Court on Tuesday extended the interim bail of Tehelka founder Tarun Tejpal till June 27.
Tejpal, an accused in a sexual assault case, was released on interim bail after five months in jail to enable him to perform the last rites of his mother who died on May 18. But he could not perform the last rites due to delay in his release from the Sada Jail in Goa on May 19.
The court has reportedly reprimanded the Goa police over the red-tape which forced Tejpal to miss his mother's funeral.
Tejpal had been booked for allegedly raping his woman colleague during an event in the state. He was arrested after his anticipatory bail was rejected by a local court. Further details are awaited.
