Sushma Swaraj asks NRIs to help in 'Clean Ganga', 'Swachh Bharat'

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj urged the Indian diaspora in Maldives to pitch in for their motherland by contributing to nation's development.

Speaking to the Indian community in Maldivian capital Male, Swaraj said that the Indians living abroad can contribute to India Development Foundation and the money will be used for programmes like Clean Ganga and Swachh Bharat.

She said that the contributors can even monitor the spending of India Development Foundation which is being run by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs.

Swaraj is in Maldives on a two day long official visit. She will co-chair a meeting of the India-Maldives Joint Commission with Maldivian Foreign Minister Dhunya Maumoon and meet President Abdulla Yameen and other senior government officials.
