External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, held a dialogue with Myanmar Deputy Foreign Minister, U Thant Kyaw, here on Wednesday.

The two ministers and delegates from both the countries met to review and discuss bilateral relations and conduct talks on issues of mutual interest.

Sharing a border of over 1600 kilometres and a maritime boundary in the Bay of Bengal, India and Myanmar have signed a number of agreements to enhance diplomatic ties.

The relations improved after 1993, overcoming the issues of drug trafficking on the international border, issues related to democracy and the rule of military in Myanmar.

India and Myanmar are actively involved in several cross-border infrastructural and non-infrastructural projects. The trade improved substantially over the years and stood at 1070 million dollars in 2010-11.
