Sushma Swaraj meets Chinese President Xi

External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj on Monday met Chinese President Xi Jinping along with the foreign ministers of various other countries ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation ministerial meeting.

During the meeting, President Xi addressed the ministers and discussed the bilateral issues among the countries and the issues affecting the south-Asian regions.

Earlier in the day, Swaraj met her Uzbekistan's counterpart Abdulaziz Kamilov on the sidelines of the SCO ministerial meeting.

As per Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar, the two leaders discussed on issues of bilateral interests.

"Good exchange of views on enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade & investment, pharma, IT, tourism and culture, as well as on the regional situation," Kumar tweted.

 

Later, Swaraj met Vice President of China Wang Qishan along with the top officials of both the countries.

Another bilateral meeting with Kyrgyzstan Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev took place in which they discussed cooperation in trade and investment, IT, Defence, films, Human resource development, culture and other areas.

Swaraj is on a two-nation visit to China and Mongolia, as part of which she will participate in a ministerial-level meeting of the SCO, where India became a full member in 2017.
