A Sri Lankan national and suspected Pakistani spy, Zakir Hussain, who was arrested for spying and for being involved in a fake currency case along with three others, was produced before a Poonamalle court near here today.
Hussain was produced before the court along with Mohammed Salim, Rafeek and Sivabalan.
Public prosecutor C S S Pillai confirmed the report saying, "Zakir Hussain and three others have been produced before the honourable court and it's for remand extension. One of the accused Sivabalan has also filed bail petition and the council took adjournment for the bail application. The bail application has been posted on September 25 and the remand has also been extended to September 25."
Yesterday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had arrested another Sri Lankan national Arun Selvarajan on charges of taking photos and videos of vital security installations in Chennai.
According to reports, he was passing on the videos and photographs to his handler in the Pakistani high commission in Colombo.
Selvarajan had allegedly been operating in India as an event manager to get access to vital information. He was found with two passports during his time of arrest.
