Sven Goran Eriksson has revealed that he stole Nancy Dell'Olio from her husband, but ended up desperately trying to give her back.

According to the Mirror, Eriksson's tell-all book 'Sven: My Story', the 65-year-old Swedish football manager recalled that his 10-year romance with Nancy began in 1998, and he had even confronted her husband, property lawyer Giancarlo, who simply thanked him for being honest.

However, it soon turned sour as Eriksson described the fiery Italian as "exhausting" and "too demanding", the Mirror reported.

Eriksson claimed that a few months of walking on the beach and romantic dinners before Dell' Olio became "too much".

He said he started to feel cramped because she always had to be the centre of attention and he wasn't used to this in a woman.

Soon after Giancarlo phoned him and they met in a car in Rome where he asked to be given one more chance with her.

Sven claimed he was stunned as he had practically stolen his wife, yet he was asking for his permission to get her back, therefore he replied with an absolutely yes.

However, Dell'Olio hit the roof on finding about their secret meeting.
