Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Friday said he was mulling over filing a case against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi under the Prevention of Corruption Act, based on Jayanti Natarajan's letter to party president Sonia Gandhi.

"That letter has become a basis for prosecution under prevention of corruption act. The act states that if someone clears a project with the aim of benefitting others, then a criminal case can be filed in which the punishment is seven years of imprisonment," Swamy told ANI.

"I am analysing the letter to figure out if prevention of corruption case can be filed against Rahul Gandhi, if Jayanti Natarajan also co-operates then she can become an approver in the case," he added.

Natarajan, who quit the Congress party today, had in a letter accused the Congress vice-president of 'political interference' and said she had received 'specific requests' from Rahul Gandhi on environmental clearances during her tenure as the environment minister.
