Former England bowler-turned TV expert Graeme Swann has joined the 'war of words' between his former teammates Kevin Pietersen and Matt Prior and called the sacked batsman 'childish' over his public spat with Prior.

However, Swann also called Prior 'naive' in making his original inflammatory comments at a Q and A session, which led to Pietersen's response.

Pietersen had hit back at Prior, branding him 'Big Cheese' over his comments that the England dressing room will be better off without their star batsman

According to the Mirror, Swann, who is commentating for the BBC on the one-day team in the Caribbean, expressed his disappointment at the 'ugly exchange', adding that Pietersen reacted childishly to Prior's 'naive' comments, which the wicketkeeper believed in.

Swann further said that instead of phoning each other and resolving the issue privately, both of them involved a million people on Twitter in thrashing out the issue.

Swann, who shared a dressing room with Pietersen for six years, revealed that he did not want Pietersen back in the team at all after seeing him send texts to the South African opposition in 2012, although he added that it was Prior as well as skipper Alastair Cook who persuaded others that he should be given another chance.

Stating that he had no inkling of what happened when Cook and Pietersen fell out after the Ashes, Swann also said that he is all the more surprised at Pietersen falling out with Prior, who was one of his biggest allies.
