Swaraj holds series of meetings with Kuwaiti leaders

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is on her maiden visit to Kuwait, on Wednesday held a series of meetings with leaders in Kuwait to strengthen the bilateral relationship between India and the Middle East country.

In the morning, the External Affairs Minister called on the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and discussed positive developments in bilateral ties between the two countries. She also raised issues of concern to the Indian community.

Later, Swaraj called on Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Jabar Al Mubarak Al Hamad Al Sabah, and discussed issues of bilateral concern and explored avenues for enhancing and further strengthening economic and investment cooperation.

 

She also held delegation-level talks with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah.

Swaraj was accompanied by Ambassador K Jeeva Sagar for all the meetings.

On Tuesday, Swaraj had interacted with the Indian Community in Kuwait. She also paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Indian Embassy here.
