Swaraj to meet kins of abducted Indian engineers: MEA

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will next week meet the kins of Indian engineers, who were abducted by suspected Taliban cadres.

During the press briefing of the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday, ministry's spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, "We are in touch with Afghan side and also with other stakeholders. The External Affairs Minister had offered to meet them next week. I am sure when she will come back, she will meet them."

Earlier on May 6, Afghan officials confirmed that seven staff members, including six Indians, of Indian company KEC International Limited, were abducted.

All seven of them were abducted in Bagh-e-Shamal village of the Pul-e-Khomri city capital of Baghlan province

 

The incident took place when they were going to the village, where the company is said to own an electricity sub-station contract.
