A mosque in Redditch, the UK, was painted with racist graffiti, including swastikas, after intruders forced their way into the site.

The damage at the mosque was caused on Wednesday and was discovered by a police patrol.

According to Sky News, the graffiti had been sprayed on the walls of the under construction mosque and at least half a dozen windows using paint taken from builders' cabins on the site.

Superintendent Kevin Purcell, North Worcestershire police commander, said due to a number of incidents happening nationally, targeted patrols have been put in place and will now be increased as the police will not tolerate mindless attacks of this nature.

He added that he will arrange meetings with the chairs of the mosques, local civic leaders and the Independent Advisory Group to reassure them of their commitment to do everything possible to prevent such incidents and track down those responsible for this attack, the report said.

According to the report, the graffiti comes just days after police in Walsall launched a major hate crime investigation when a small home-made bomb exploded near a mosque.
