Swedish envoy, DMRC chief unveil 'Nobel Memorial Wall' at Rajiv Chowk metro station

Swedish Ambassador to India, Harald Sandberg, and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Mangu Singh unveiled the 'Nobel Memorial Wall' at the Rajiv Chowk metro station here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Swedish envoy lauded Noble Peace Prize winning laureate Kailash Satyarthi for his work.

"I think we should all express our admiration for the courageous work of Kailash Satyarthi and the people who work with him against child labour and for education and protection," he said.

Sandberg also thanked the Delhi Metro for being an excellent partner.

The DMRC Managing Director on his part thanked the Swedish Ambassador for choosing this venue and hoped this year's edition will be a hit like it has been in the previous years.

 

"I am very thankful to the Ambassador of Sweden for selecting Rajiv Chowk station giving DMRC an opportunity to co-operate in this display of Nobel Laureates details on such an important place. Rajiv Chowk has been chosen rightly as this station has got the maximum footfall in all DMRC Metro network," he said.

"Like previous years I am sure this will be a hit. The number of visitors will be visiting this wall and will gain the information about our Noble laureates. I hope this co-operation will continue and in future will have also we will have similar occasions," he added.

Norway's Ambassador to India, Eivind S. Homme, was also present on the occasion.

The eight edition of 'Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week', which is held annually in memory of Swedish innovator, entrepreneur and philanthropist Alfred Nobel, will be organised across 10 cities that celebrates Indian Nobel laureates.
