SwiftKey, a third-party keyboard app used across iOS and Android operating systems, developed a bug whereby the users were getting 'unfamiliar suggestions' while typing.

According to The Verge, some users reported that their keyboards would often pop up with other people's email address' while typing their own.

Following the incident, the users went to Reddit, an entertainment, social news networking service, and news website, to complain about the bug.

While acknowledging the complaints, the company in an official statement said that the bug will not pose a security threat to its customers.

"This week, a few of our customers noticed unexpected predictions where unfamiliar terms, and in some rare cases, emails appeared when using their mobile phone. We are working quickly to resolve this inconvenience," the statement read

"While this did not pose a security issue for our customers, we have turned off the cloud sync service and have updated our applications to remove email address predictions. During this time, it will not be possible to back up your SwiftKey language model," the statement added.

Meanwhile, SwiftKey Company has suspended its cloud syncing service.

In February this year, SwiftKey, a U.K. based company, was purchased by Microsoft for 250 million dollars.
