Syria has entered a deal with the United Nations to allow innocent civilians to leave the rebel-held city of Homs.
The move is potentially the first positive result after deadlocked peace talks in Switzerland last week.
According to news24, the siege of the old city of Homs has gone on for over a year, and activists said some 2 500 people are trapped inside the area struggling with hunger and malnourishment.
A Syrian foreign ministry said that the agreement would allow innocent civilians surrounded in the neighbourhoods of Old Homs an opportunity to leave as soon as the necessary arrangements are made.
