A Western diplomat has revealed that Syria has four chemical weapons facilities that it has not disclosed to the United Nations, a report said.

The source said that three of the sites are research and development facilities and one is a production facility, reported the CNN. The diplomat revealed that U.N. special envoy Sigrid Kaag, who is overseeing the destruction of Syria's chemical stockpiles, has briefed the UN Security Council.

The report said that Kaag told the council that Syria made the disclosure during ongoing meetings between the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and Syrian authorities.

United States Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power reacted on Twitter by saying: "Must keep pressure on regime so it doesn't hide (chemical weapons) capability.
