The recent tribal revolt against the Islamic State in Syria that was brutally crushed by the extremists- who massacred hundreds of Shaitat tribe members for rising up against them-received little international attention, causing anger and resentment among the tribesmen.
Members of the tribe in Abu Hamam in Syria's eastern Deir al-Zour province were mercilessly killed for daring to put up a fight against the terror group.
According to the Washington Times, by the time the killing stopped, 700 people were dead, activists and survivors say, making this the bloodiest single atrocity committed by the Islamic State in Syria since it declared its existence 18 months ago.
Abu Salem, who was among the Shaitat tribesman and rebel commanders, said that the US was not doing much toward helping Sunni Arabs who were willing to fight the Islamic State militants.
Recalling the slaughter of his tribesmen at the hands of IS extremists, Abu Siraj said that the atrocities committed on the Shaitat tribe had generated a loathing for the terror group among the Abu Hamam survivors.
Siraj said that now the tribe hated everyone who prayed and had even started hating beards.
The few lucky ones who managed to flee the assault are now living in Turkey or elsewhere in Syria.
Abu Salem, the commander of the group said that the tribe would never forget to avenge the death of its people.
However, he asserted that the tribe would take revenge in its own way and refused to seek any help from outside.
