Taekwondo National gold medalist arrested for robbery

Delhi Police on Saturday arrested a fairly educated robber Suraj Fighter and two of his accomplices in connection with a the robbing of a gold chain and leather purse in the Ranhola locality of the city.

Suraj Fighter, his two friends -- Anil Bhala and Mushtaq -- were arrested for robbing valuables by using a pistol and pepper spray.

"A resident of Uttam Nagar, Suraj Fighter has done his diploma in computer engineering and speaks fluent English. He belongs to a well-settled family and his father is a lawyer by profession," Deputy Commissioner M.N. Tiwari said in a press conference.

The 28-year-old is a two time National Gold Medalist in Taekwondo and his fond of wearing branded clothes. The robber only drinks packed Bisleri branded water.

 

Fighter is a good singer and even participated in Indian Idol music show on television.

"His name has been registered in 24 criminal cases of robbery, loot and vehicle thefts in Delhi. In fact, he came out of prison only two weeks ago on a bail," Tiwari said.

One country-made pistol, one live cartridge, one pepper spray, two scooties and the purse of complainant containing ATM and visiting card was recovered from them.

"He started robbing because of bad influence and a strong desire to have a lavish lifestyle in the shortest possible period of time. The robber lured those with whom he came in contact and stole their valuables," the police said.
