Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman on Saturday urged everyone to take the necessary precautions to fight the global coronavirus outbreak.
He also stressed upon the fact that if anyone is tested positive then the concerned person should stay in isolation in order to prevent the contagious disease.
"One who stays away can save the rest. Requesting everyone to take the necessary precautions & be responsible. If you have symptoms, please get yourself tested. If you have tested positive please be in isolation and help prevent others. Together we can overcome this soon #COVID19," Laxman tweeted.
The deadly virus has taken a huge toll on sports across the globe with many competitions either being postponed or taking place behind closed doors.
Earlier in the day, Indian skipper Virat Kohli also urged the fans to be vigilant and take all the necessary precautions.
Cricket also had to bear the brunt of the spread of COVID-19. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Friday decided to reschedule the three-match ODI series.
World Health Organisation (WHO) on Wednesday declared the coronavirus outbreak a 'pandemic' and expressed deep concern. India has over 80 cases of the disease.
