At least 11 Afghan security officials have reportedly been killed by the Taliban assault in southern Helmand Province.
Afghan officials were quoted, as saying by Dawn that four soldiers and seven police officers were killed by insurgents overrunning Musa Qala.
The attack began late on Wednesday night.
The Afghan Taliban's annual "spring offensive" began in April 2015 as the militant group vowed to conduct nationwide attacks in what is expected to be the bloodiest fighting season in a decade as Nato forces pull back from the frontlines.
