According to a West Point terrorism expert, the Taliban is losing its battle to Islamic State militants in recruitment of foreign fighters due to United States' and Pakistani airstrikes.
The report of the West Point terrorism expert says that around 8,000 foreign fighters from Central Asian, Arab and European nations had settled in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Waziristan.
The fighters were from the combating Terrorism Center at West Point who have reduced in number due to airstrikes and the emergence of new global jihadists, Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, reported Fox News.
Pakistani government had estimated the number of fighters as 8,000 wherein the government had carried out several airstrikes and bombing to eliminate these fighters.
Almost 50,000 Pakistanis were reportedly killed in jihadist terror attacks since 2001 which were allegedly carried out by foreign fighters.
Pakistani officials claimed to have killed at least 500 militants in North Waziristan in military operations last month.
