The Taliban said the elections' "conspiracy is plotted by Americans as they have always misused the public opinion by deceptions and temptations and have imposed their own policies over the nations and have kept them under the yoke of their brutal occupation for years and years," The Express Tribune reports.

The Taliban warned the people of unpleasant consequences if they failed to follow the instructions and demands of the Islamic Emirate by participating in the elections

Afghanistan's presidential election has come to a run-off poll as the competing candidates failed to secure more than 50 percent of the total number of votes cast, as required under the Constitution to win the election, the report said.

Dr Abdullah Abdullah and Dr Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai, who emerged as the two leading candidates following the first round of presidential polls held on April 5, are now contending to succeed President Hamis Karzai.
