Tangkhul Naga community welcomes freshers to Delhi

The Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Delhi (TKLD) organized the 11th edition of "Yarthot Kazip" or fresher's meet under the theme - 'Emerging Youths, Emerging Talents'at Thyagaraj Stadium in the capital today.

"For us, it is very special as our brothers and sisters are coming from home. We need to felicitate and welcome them. Therefore, we organized the fresher's meet. It's not only for fresher's but it also for all the Tangkhuls who are residing in Delhi. There are many families here, so we welcome them in this way to bring all of them together in the spirit of love and brotherhood," said TKLD President Phungshok Khongreiwo.

 

Every year over 10,000 students from the northeast come to Delhi for higher studies, where they hone their skills for their better future prospects. Music, dance and fashion parade - the fun filled affair was attended by members of Tangkhul Naga community and students. Former Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also attended the event.

"It is a way to promote our culture. This where we meet, this is where we share and interpret the ideas we have. We came together today and the program was very successful. This shows our unity," said a student, Zeinorin Stephen.

"We do not have much platform sometime we perform in such type of occasion, but we just stuck so it is very good to give us platform. I knew that we can compete to anybody in the world but just that we lack of platform. It is a good thing which we can introduce so many new upcoming music bands and also encourage other bands," said Themreishang, Vocalist, Epistles Music band.
