National shooter Tara Sahdev, whose husband was arrested and produced before the Dwarka Court in Delhi on Wednesday, has demanded a CBI probe into the case.
Tara thanked the police for acting promptly on her complaint.
"I would like to thank the administration and the police officers, who have arrested him. I just request that justice be delivered to me and he must be punished," Tara told mediapersons in Ranchi.
"The investigation should be carried out without any pressure. I want a CBI inquiry because I know how influential he is," she added.
Tara further said that she had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well, seeking an investigation by the NIA.
"I have also written a letter to the Prime Minister requesting an investigation by the NIA, not for myself but for the nation," she said.
Tara had married Ranjit Kohli alias Rakib-ul-Hussain in July this year, but she later found out later that her husband belonged to a different faith.
The national shooter had earlier alleged that Kohli beat her and forced her to convert to Islam after they got married in July.
Tara had also alleged she came to know about her husband's faith only after her marriage and that she was only able to SMS her family on August 19 when she got an opportunity to text after being taken to Delhi; and that led to her rescue.
Kohli, however, had denied Tara's claims of torture and said that she had asked for Rs 15 lakhs to marry him. He also refuted claims of converting her religion.
