National shooter Tara Sahdev's husband Ranjit Singh Kohli alias Rakibul Hassan and his mother today denied forcing Tara to convert her religion.

Kohli, along with his mother, were on board a flight to leave for Ranchi.

"It's my family matter. She is my wife and that is it. The allegations against me are false. My name is Ranjit Singh Kohli and I never forced her to convert her religion. You should ask her about the allegations," said Kohli

"I didn't have any fight with her recently, I never ran a sex racket, I had good relations with ministers, and it's not my letter where the name Rakibul Hassan is written," he added.

"I can't say anything because it's their personal matter. My son's name is not Rakibul Hassan, his name is Ranjit Singh Kohli. He was not forcing her to convert her religion, only she knows why is she saying so," said Kohli's mother.

Kohli has now been kept at Ranchi's Namkum police station for interrogation.

Kohli was today arrested and produced before the Dwarka Court in Delhi upon the complaint of his wife that he had forced her to convert her religion and has also alleged that his name is not Ranjit Singh Kohli, but Rakibul Hassan

Tara also demanded a CBI probe into the case and thanked the police for acting promptly on her complaint.

Tara had married Ranjit Kohli alias Rakibul Hussain in July this year, but she later found out later that her husband belonged to a different faith.

The national shooter had earlier alleged that Kohli beat her and forced her to convert to Islam after they got married in July. Tara had also alleged that she came to know about her husband's faith only after her marriage and that she was only able to SMS her family on August 19 when she got an opportunity to text after being taken to Delhi; and that led to her rescue.

Kohli, however, had denied Tara's claims of torture and said that she had asked for Rs 15 lakhs to marry him. He also refuted claims of converting her religion.
